Asia Luna Restaurant, Nayara Gardens, Costa Rica, February 23 & March 1, 2023
We loved Asia Luna Restaurant so much, that we ate here twice during our week-long stay at Nayara Gardens! If you search around, you’ll find that most folks who review the resort on Trip Advisor or wherever else, also list Asia Luna as one of the best meals they had at the resort. We ate here on our first and last nights at the resort. Asia Luna is called a fusion restaurant, however it is really mostly heavily Asian influenced. I think the fusion part mainly comes in where they add plantains to a lot of the different sushi rolls! There is a ton of stuff here, though, for folks who don’t like sushi, like these cilantro-chicken wontons!
The decor here is minimal, but chic. I love the large overhead lights they have in the main area of the restaurant, most of which is open to the outside. Service here is excellent, and super friendly.
Both times we came, we received a vegetable gyoza as an amuse bouche, which was excellent. Both times, we also ordered the beef skewers, and the sauce was really the stand out here, but the beef was super tender as well, and melted in your mouth.
Both times, we also ordered the Tico roll, which is a tempura shrimp roll with fried plantains on the outside. This has to be one of the best rolls I’ve ever eaten. I love tempura shrimp rolls in general, but the sweet plantain on the outside just took it up a notch. Incredible!
The first night we came, Brian ordered the Batayaki Sea, which is, essentially a seafood stir fry. It was delicious and slightly spicy – a nice welcome to Costa Rica!
The second time I ordered the “Wok” bowl with beef tenderloin. This was really nice and spicy, the beef was tender, and the noodles delicious. I kind of wish there were more veggies in this bowl!
On our last night, Brian also ordered gobs of sushi rolls, which he really loved, and they all looked so pretty and delicious!
The wine list here and cocktails are not to be missed – I loved the Lychee drink that I had the first night. Asia Luna is one of, if not the best, restaurants on the entire property. Do not miss it!
