Four Seasons Resort, Jimbaran Bay, Bali, May 24-28, 2023, Overview
We spent an incredible four nights at the Four Seasons Resort in Jimbaran Bay Bali, and this article will give you a bit of an overview of the resort. We absolutely loved it here, and I would highly recommend a visit when you are in Bali. We actually booked the Four Seasons Bali – Twice the Magic package, which was a superb deal. We got to stay in both Four Seasons resorts (Jimbaran Bay and Sayan/Ubud) As part of the package, we received every third night free, complimentary breakfast, free transfers between the two resorts, and 25% off food, beverage and spa. This was a killer deal that I couldn’t pass up.
Jimbaran Bay is close, but not-too-close to all of the main happenings in the south end of Bali – you are not too far from Kuta, which is basically still the center of tourism in Bali, but you’re also close to places like the Uluwatu temple and Sanur port, where you can leave for inter-island excursions. Jimbaran Bay is also home to all of the famous fish restaurants where you can catch one of the world’s best sunsets while enjoying your fresh seafood right on the beach.
The resort itself is tucked into the side of a hill on the south end of Jimbaran Bay, allowing for epic views of the beach, water and sunsets, not to mention the planes landing and taking off from Denpasar’s airport. Don’t worry, there is zero noise from the planes!
It’s pretty large, with about 100 villas, but you never feel crowded at all here. It is set up like a traditional Balinese village, and so there are lots of stone walls and foliage separating each villa, and you really feel like you’re in a private little Balinese town when you’re walking around and you have 100% privacy within the villa itself.
Service is where the Four Seasons really shines, and we were greeted by no less than five people upon check in, introducing themselves and providing us with resort information, a blessing, and even a graduation gift for Noah! Room service is quite quick, and everyone here is super pleasant. This wasn’t surprising to me, as I know the Balinese people to be super welcoming; multiply that by Four Seasons service and you get one of the most amazing stays of your life! We were offered a complimentary bottle of Champagne in our room after we checked in, along with some Balinese sweets.
I will do an entire article on the room, but suffice to say for now that it was very spacious and had a nice view of the bay. I booked a Deluxe Villa, which is about the nicest one you can book before the prices take a big jump. It was a semi-water view, but still really perfect. We had our own private plunge pool, and Noah had his own little room off to the side so that he could have some privacy. The bathroom was large and had an outdoor shower which we all loved.
The main pool on the property is incredibly gorgeous. It’s a true infinity pool, with the edge seamlessly blending into the waters of the bay below. A very cool and chill place to hang out for the day, there are very comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas set up not too close to one another. The restaurant “Alu” is there to serve you drinks and snacks throughout your loungey day. There is a smaller pool on the level below the main pool, with a large waterfall feature created by the spillover from the pool above. A private, luxe sanctuary, come down here if you want to really get away from it all.
There are several restaurants on the property, and you eat your included breakfast at the buffet – Taman Wantilan – every morning. This is a breakfast buffet of epic proportions, ranging from western breakfast food like quiche, omelettes and pancakes, to Indian, Chinese, and Indonesian breakfast food. You can even have sushi for breakfast! The views from here over the bay are spectacular, and there are Koi ponds and other water features everywhere. The highlight of this place, for us, was what we called the “pastry shack” which is an air conditioned room housing the fresh fruit and the pastries including the freshest, flakiest croissants you could ever have in the tropics!
The other main restaurants on the property are Jala and Sundara, which I’ll be writing about and I’ll add links here once those are published. We never had a formal meal at Jala, but we cooked and ate there as part of our Ocean to Table tour. Sundara was where we had dinner twice on the property – once for a meat extravaganza and once for Tapas. The sunsets at Sundara are not to be missed.
The spa here – called the Healing Village Spa – was a highlight for me on this trip. I will be doing articles on all of my spa activities at both resorts, but I have to say the actual property and set up here at Jimbaran Bay was the absolute best. It really is like a Village in and of itself, and it is so tranquil, surrounded by water features and chill music, couches to relax on, and massive treatment rooms, that you must not miss booking a treatment here when you visit. The prices are actually extremely reasonable, especially for the indulgent, multi-hour experiences that you can book, and so I took advantage with multiple treatments at both properties. I booked the “Baru Detox” and I can say I’ve never felt better after a spa treatment!
The property is large, but there are plenty of golf carts to take you where you need to go. We walked most of the time, but getting to the carport was pretty far and pretty steeply uphill from our Villa. We also took a buggy down to Sundara and back, as it was pretty much at the opposite end of the property.
Four Seasons Resort – Jimbaran Bay is a magically special property, with exquisite service and villas, and one of the best spas in all of Bali. We absolutely loved our four-night stay here and I wouldn’t hesitate to book this property.
