RH Indianapolis Dining Room: Estate Dining With a Design Flair

Just, wow! Pulling up to the RH Gallery in Indianapolis, you get an absolute sense of awe, and you actually forget that you are right smack in the middle of America. As you drive into the Dehaan Estate, a 151 acre property containing a beautiful lake, stunning outdoor sculptures, and even a peep of an obliging pheasant poking around, you can’t help but think that you might actually be in Europe. The driveway is designed to take you all around the property, and as you pull up to the luxurious former home, you catch your breath as you view the villa and the gorgeous fountain in the front. Just over a year ago, this estate was reimagined and reopened as an RH Gallery and Dining Room, and we checked it out on a warm weekend in September of 2024.

The only RH Gallery of it’s kind, we were already excited to enjoy a luxurious brunch here before we even walked into the building. The Dining Room is right in the front, in the middle of the Villa as you walk in, and it is gorgeous. Differing from the airy atrium dining rooms in Chicago and Oak Brook, this room is fully enclosed, but looks out onto the lake behind the villa, and is beautifully designed. The ceilings are high, and the place is oozing with old-world-meets-modern charm.

Here you will find a pretty typical RH Dining Room menu, with nothing too different from the menus in Chicago at the Three Arts Club, or at the Oak Brook Rooftop Restaurant, which you can read about here. The main difference, though, is that the food is about 20% cheaper in Indianapolis, a welcome surprise. My main complaint about the RH menus here in the Chicagoland area are the prices, so it was nice to get a bit of a break in Indy.

I had to order the RH Burger to see if it was as good as the ones here in Chicago. I would rate the RH Burger at the Three Arts Club and in Oak Brook among some of the best in all of Chicagoland. The burger at the Dehaan Estate was almost as good. My bun was looking a bit deflated and sad, and not quite as fresh as I would’ve expected, but the general composition of the burger, sauce, cooking temperature and amazing sharp pickles were otherwise identical. Still totally yummy.

Like other RH Dining Rooms, nothing comes with your sandwich and you pay for your fries (or other sides) separately. Luckily, they do give you an enormous amount of fries, enough for sharing, and I implore you to not skip the sweet potato fries. They are cooked perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, and they are served with a rosemary aioli that is to die for.

My sister-in-law ordered an omelette, which was absolutely massive and delicious, with huge strips of bacon on the side. It was a fluffy, french-style omelette, with French Gournay (think Boursin) cheese in the middle which was a highlight. Brian ordered the Rotisserie Chicken Sandwich, which was delicious, although he thought it was quite small, and lamented not ordering the half (or whole!!!) chicken.

We were extremely impressed with the location and setting of this RH Gallery. They also have a wine bar and terrace if you just want to wander around the gallery itself shopping for ultra-luxe furniture, while enjoying a beverage. I would highly recommend coming here to enjoy the scenery, and the food!
