The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Sayan, Bali, May 29 & 30, 2023
When I say I had a pretty relaxing and de-stressing vacation in Bali, I mean it. You can read all about the absolutely amazing Healing Village Spa at the Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay here, where I had the incredible Baru Detox treatment. At The Four Seasons Resort in Sayan, I had two spa treatments while staying there for three nights.
This resort has two separate spa areas. The first is on the ground floor of the main building. There, you will find the treatment rooms, sauna, fitness area as well as these super cute little private plunge pools with a couple of chaise loungers by them. In this area, Brian and I got a couples massage focusing on our neck, shoulders and upper back. The therapists were excellent, and after the massage, they used healing sound bowls to ease us back to reality. It was a lovely, relaxing treatment.
My second treatment was at the spa village, a completely separate area of small villas on the property that provide for a highly private and individualized service. I got the sense that these villas were built to actually be guest rooms rather than spa treatment rooms, but I couldn’t confirm this. The spa village area was surrounded by water, and was very tranquil.
The villa itself was quite large, with two treatment tables and a couch, as well as a large changing area and outdoor bathroom area with a large soaking tub.
I booked the Muladhara Chakra Balancing Ritual, which was a two hour session intended to balance and align my root chakra, which is at the base of the spine. This began with a foot cleansing ritual, as well as a standing meditation session. After this, I was taken into the bathroom area, where a frankincense smoke ceremony was performed. Frankincense is a very grounding herb, and I sat on a special stool while the smoke from the herb graced my root chakra region. At the same, time, I was receiving a neck and shoulder massage.
Next was a full body massage using additional special spices and herbs intended to help ground me, mixed with healing sound bowls and some chanting to give me the ultimate relaxation experience. These fully immersive rituals offered by both spas at Jimbaran Bay and Sayan are special and extraordinary, and not like anything I’ve experienced at any traditional spa in America. I left the spa village feeling extremely grounded, relaxed, and less scattered and stressed about things going on in real life.
While I think the Healing Village Spa in Jimbaran Bay has a more luxe set up, I would highly recommend trying a Chakra Balancing Ritual here at Sayan – it is a very unique and special experience.
