Top Five articles for 2022
So 2022 will always be the year that I started this blog, and I have really loved every minute of it. I love writing about my current trips, and I especially love writing about my past trips, which I call my “nostalgia” posts. Since I have a full time job, I unfortunately can’t be traveling all the time, so I like to fill in the gaps between travel with my nostalgia posts. I also really love finding photos and videos that capture the vibe of where I’m going and posting those on Instagram and interacting with fellow travelers there.
This countdown is all about me, and my favorite articles that I have written this year. Since May of this year, I’ve published 64 articles, and it was tough to narrow them down to a Top 5 list. It’s a mix of current travels and nostalgia posts, and I hope you’ll check out my faves!
5. The Worldwide Hunt for Caravaggio
This is more of a page, rather than a single published post, but it’s one of the main reasons I started this blog, and gives us reasons to go to more out-of-the-way places, which makes traveling all the more fun. I was never into baroque art before discovering this very strange and troubled artist, and the glorious paintings that he created. I hope you will follow along as we find all of the known Caravaggio paintings out there. Check it all out here! There will be one more Caravaggio for 2022, so be sure to check out the page to see the latest!
4. Ghostbusters Tour
This article easily made it to the Top 5 list because it was just so incredibly fun to write. This trip was over 10 years ago, and was pretty unique, so it was super fun (and hilarious!) to go back and check out all of the photos and videos from this outing. Publishing this article and posting it on Instagram also got me in touch with the current Ghostbusters HQ page, so it was fun to see how the firehouse has changed over the last 10+ years. Read all about me and my brother’s tour around Manhattan to various Ghostbusters filming sites here!
3. Anse Chastanet
This article made the Top 5 list for purely emotional reasons. After a year of essentially not traveling, I was super bumming with cabin fever and this trip literally changed everything. Not only is this resort absolutely stunning, and it was totally fine that we essentially could not leave the resort during the pandemic, but it brought a sense of calm and normalcy back to my life that was desperately lacking during the pandemic. While not all of the restaurants were open, and not all of the activities were available, Anse Chastanet is easily one of the best resorts I have ever visited, and you can check out the article here. Bonus article is my overview of the Jade Mountain Club, which is the sister resort to Anse Chastanet where we ate a few spectacular dinners during our stay!
2. Cocina Hermanos Torres
This article was so easy and fun to write, that it was a no-brainer for the number two spot on the list. Cocina Hermanos Torres is a three-star Michelin restaurant where we took our two youngest for a fancy dinner while we were in Barcelona. Everything about this meal was absolutely perfect, and so writing a “review” of this place was a breeze. The photos were fun to edit, and I’m so glad that we will have the memories that we made here forever. This restaurant is one of the best I have ever eaten at, and I would highly recommend getting a reservation the next time you’re in Barcelona. Check out my full review here!
1. Copal Tree Lodge
My favorite article that I wrote for the year was my review and nostalgia post of our trip to Copal Tree Lodge. This is one of my all time favorite trips with my husband, and this is one of the best resorts we have visited in Central America. The activities here were super varied, and we were out of the way from major tourist areas in Belize. Our room, a Canopy Suite, was one of the best rooms we have ever stayed at, quite possibly, in the world. I felt a sense of joy while writing this piece, and when Muy’Ono resorts had their annual 50% off deal on Black Friday this year, I was anxious to book a room again. I rarely want to go back to the same place twice, but Copal Tree Lodge is a major exception. The service and people there are wonderful, the food was excellent, and our Canopy Suite was perfection. I hope that you’ll enjoy reading my article here, as much as I enjoyed writing it!
